Son of juju maestro King Sunny Ade, Mr. Adesanmi Adeniyi, has debunked a rumour that circulated online on Tuesday that the musician had died.
Adeniyi told our correspondent on the telephone that he also heard the rumour, but that it was false.
He said, “My father is hale and hearty. When I read about the rumour online, I was surprised. I called my dad and he too was surprised that he was being rumoured dead.”
Many people expressed anxiety on social media as the information travelled round.
Only a few months ago, the New York Times had in a story claimed that KSA’s performance profile had declined, while also alleging that he was no more buoyant.
But the musician, who is believed to still be in form and performs regularly at choice occasions, had denied the claim.
He will be 70 in September.
